LA Fitness WorkoutI'm honestly one of the busiest people I've ever met.  So when a conversation comes up with my peers and colleagues in the industry about trying to stay healthy while juggling massive recruiting strategies, insanely large implementations, family time, professional networking and the rest of what has to get done it always comes down to the same thing...  How each of us are either successfully or unsuccessfully making the time for our health.

This got me to thinking...  If I can squeeze in just 1-2 workouts or fitness driven activities a week then almost anyone can.  I've even verified this with a few of my favorite bloggers and HR Techies and we've decided to do a little something about it - both to keep us honest with each other and hopefully motivate our friends, family, and peers to do the same.  A prime example?  I'm blogging this entry after a terrific upper body workout from my gym this morning - pic included here.

So what we're hoping you'll notice is an increase in the mention of fitness in some of our daily routines through the end of the year.  We'll do this (and encourage you to as well) in the form of a Facebook status update, a Twitter post or maybe even just a simple mention that we were at the gym before blogging about HR, Tech, Recruiting, etc.  And we'll tag them all with #fitness.

The part I love the most is that if you're healthy then you're more than likely thinking more clearly.  If you're healthy then you're more than likely more productive overall.  I know that you're certainly going to be happier once you find your groove and fitness routine that suits your working style and schedule.

The country is going through lots of turmoil related to government health care programs and reforming this or that.  To be terribly frank and honest with you - the biggest issue with Health Care today is not the government or the greedy corporations...  It's the general public's lack of getting off of our collective butts and doing something about it.  Think about it.

So what do you say to this little challenge that only runs through the end of the year?  Can you find just one thing to do for your health a week and mention it in a blog or tweet or status update while tagging it with #fitness?  C'mon... Squeeze it in.  You know you wanna'.

Everyone chiming in will get listed here with a link to their blog or Twitter account - just post a comment that you're willing to get involved and how you'd like to be linked!
