Quick blog on the way home from work tonight - today was crazy with meetings and calendar updates and 400 other things that had to get done before I start a few weeks of road work. I'm looking forward to a quick trip to Houston this week to speak at the Texas Diversity and Leadership Conference. It's always a pleasure to take part in a terrific program such as this that does a wonderful job of raising awareness and action.
The (Fourth Annual) Texas Diversity and Leadership Conference is being held on May 14th through the 16th at the Westin Galleria Hotel in Houston, TX. The theme for the conference is "Deconstructing the Texas Glass Ceiling." The expected attendance is well over 1,500 and will feature former US Attorney General John Ashcroft, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Dateline NBC Correspondent Ed Gordon and Spike Lee as the featured keynote speakers.
My role at the event will be in one of the breakout sessions where we'll talk about the current trends in regards to the demographics of the workforce and how those trends influence recruiting strategies. I'll be focusing on recruiting trends around gender and generational hiring.
As a quick heads up for anyone that will be in the area, there is also a job fair for professional titles and that is taking place on the 15th. It is open to the public and you can grab the details at the Texas Diversity & Leadership Conference website.
I'll be vblogging the event - so watch for insane abuse of my new Flip Ultra camera to follow my participation!
