The latest neat find is Jason Goldberg's new social|median. It was fun following Jason on his self-named blog over at Jobster until he stepped down as the CEO. Will his latest venture be as interesting to watch? Time will tell - and I think I'm willing to put in a bit of time on this one.
I've spent the better part of the morning playing with Jason's new project and I think that if this continues on the path it seems to be headed that it could easily be a personal favorite. While social|median is still in alpha (you can register and use the code:FRIENDS) it seems to be very intuitive and quite active. At a glance, the new site creates a social network out of news postings. A user finds something that interests them and 'clips it' so that it's visable and made available to comments and user interaction. We also see the ability to search, create, or join news circles. These circles let the users customize what news snippets they are bombarded with on their own profile/landing page. This is especially great for users that have such schizophrenic news interests as I do. For instance, my first news circles are: Media Watch, Web 2.0, Online Recruiting News, and Animation (don't ask.) I like this project - and I like where it's going. I find the twist it takes on already established sites with similar functionality such as topix interesting enough to pay attention. Check it out.
