The Start of Something Beautiful?

So I finally got my beta confirmation for the new search engine, Searchme. For anyone that doesn't know, Searchme is a new engine that lets you actually 'see' what you're searching for. Think Google meets iTunes... only without the razor sharp results that Google offers today. Of course, this is due largely in part because Searchme is still in beta and only has a few billion pages indexed so far.

Getting to it...

I found this morning that as I entered my search terms it was recommending categories to help narrow my results. For instance, as I typed in "Recruiter in the Dallas area" it went from 8 (visually represented at the top of the page) categories such as Work & Career, Software, and Business News down to 6 categories with two being Classifieds and Blogs. Definitely an interesting idea to say the least.

Again, the results are lacking, but the navigation is just plain fun. Scrolling through the results pages like my iPod album art I'm able to hover over a results page to see a quick snippet of where my terms were found on the page.

I'm anxious to see where this goes - for now it's a pretty slick way (with the use of a few wildcards) to play with image searching. I'd recommend leaving the adult filter enabled, though.

Head over to Searchme and get signed up for the beta. As for me... I might spend some time this morning playing around with more searches for terms like 'Recruiter', 'Dallas', 'Sourcing', 'Immediate Availability' and such. You just never know what you'll find...
