Scrubbing Toilets Makes The World A Better PlaceSince I seem to be big on quotes this week I thought I'd regurgitate something I spotted on a forum not long ago. It went something like this:

“...scrubbing toilets probably is worse [than journalism]. On the other hand, at the end of the day, a toilet scrubber knows he’s left the world better than it was before.”

Does blogging count as real [[journalism]]? I'm not entirely sure. After all, journalism is not so much a method of communication as it is a type of message sent, right? Blogs can be used as a tool for journalism just like they can be used as a tool for family communication, social networking, political rants or even humor. Of course if we move forward with the thought that blogging could be considered journalism then are we to consider all bloggers Journalists? Whooooah... Would the next logical line of thought take us down the road of journalistic responsibility and integrity and... and... Aw to heck with it - we're just bloggers.

So in the spirit of toilet scrubbing making the world a better place with each post, I'll leave you with the following snippets worth reading today - seriously.

Read them.

  1. Facelift-Book: A More Organized Profile Page - A not so insignificant problem with Facebook is with the advent of the “Pirate vs. Ninja” style Facebook application, the profiles of Facebook denizens have started to get a little cluttered. Wanting to dodge the MySpace bullet, they’ve set up profile pages with a new tabbed system to segregate out a bit of the content from the main default view.
  2. LinkedIn Launches Mobile-Ready Website - LinkedIn, a social network for professionals, has launched a mobile service. The LinkedIn site hosts 19 million users globally, typically professionals that own smartphones, reports The Guardian. m.LinkedIn.com allows users to search for contacts and CVs, invite contacts to their networks, and receive updates about existing connections.
  3. Using the Web to Search for a Job - Technology has made it incredibly easy to broadcast your résumé or profile to a lot of companies very quickly, easily, and for free. So I think there's probably an overreliance on technology. I think that people get lazy.
