I know that my core expertise over the years has been recruiting and sourcing. I don’t call myself a guru of anything except my own thought process (and even that is sketchy some days!) But I do interact with a fair amount of people within the social media and social recruiting sphere – both veterans and newbies alike. And I have had my fair share of wins and losses within the social recruitingsphere on a pretty respectable scale. The one thing that I hear more and more from newbies, and not quite enough of from experts, is how to create, manage and engage a team from the tactical perspective when it comes to social media/recruiting.
Sure, we’ve got lots of people “doing” it. There are some teams doing it really really well and in keeping the universe in balance we’ve peers out there doing it really badly. But I’m of the opinion that we’re not hearing much about the tactical side of what’s working and what isn’t. At least in regards to crafting your team and managing the time spent in this channel or that channel. In summary, we’ve been hearing lots of “WHY” we should go social but not much around “HOW” we should get there – or how to manage our efforts after we get “there.”
So how do I write a post series about my thoughts on this without it sounding like I’m just vomiting up snippets from a thousand other blogs, articles, and whitepapers typically just full of speculation and “strategic” 5 mile high overviews with no meat? Well here’s how…
I’ll start by asking you for your anonymous input before weighing in. Getting your side directly from you will ensure that my message is more on target – or determine if I’m so off the mark that I should just resign to thousands of other blogs, articles and whitepapers. As to the anonymity… Not too many of you will chime in when your company names are tied to your responses – and I get that completely. So let’s get it done here and in a way that is comfortable for everyone.
Email me from whatever email account you like or call me directly (info on About page on TheRecruiterGuy.com.) Tell me what you can’t say out loud or in public – and I’ll bring it back here in a compilation of both my opinion and your ideas and frustrations. Of course I’m not just looking for the corp side of things. If you’re a job seeker that’s frustrated with the lack of interaction with the recruiting/staffing department at a company then weigh in, yo!
100% anonymous if you like – all I ask is that you share your company size if you’re a corporate or staffing agency and as many great or crappy details as you can get away with. Unless you tell me to name you or your company or name, I’ll take the info to my grave.
C’mon… you know you wanna’.
