“I’ve Got Video,” Says the PremTech

One of the job titles that my team has had the pleasure of filling over the last year is the Premises Technician at AT&T. These men and women are responsible for the installation and customer care of the AT&T U-verse product. If you haven’t had the pleasure of U-verse yet, you don’t know what you’re missing – and I’m not just saying that because of those paychecks that are thrown my way.

One of the reasons we’ve enjoyed recruiting for the installation and support of this product is because we truly love it. I’ve had the service for months now and really do prefer it over the cable service that I had for years. I have more HD channels than cable provided, I can view my Flickr page on the TV, I can set up the recorder from my mobile phone if running late, etc. etc. etc. I’ll get off my sales box now since this wasn’t the goal of the blog post today…

Okay… so the point of this rambling isn’t for RecruiterGuy to sell you U-verse… Truth be told, I’m just excited and pleased with some videos we’ve just released that show exactly what a Premises Technician does every day in regards to the level of technical work they perform, what they wear and drive, and the customer interaction they have.

Check it out below – I’m proud to have been a part of the video series we’re releasing… There is definitely more to come.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, all.
These were definitely fun to be a part of. I think videos go a long way in clearing up

any guesswork one might have about a job they’re applying for.

This video in particular was a great way to show the large differences

between what a network technician or customer service technician might do as opposed to these more customer service driven premises technicians

    titles.
I won’t lie though – it was also a great opportunity to show that many women perform these jobs throughout the country and are darned

good at it. All too often female job seekers were reluctant to apply because they thought these were ‘jobs for men’ The teams were happy to

continue to break that stereotype with a video like this.

    I don’t think I have ever hard

of a basement in Texas. Aren’t they called tornado holes?

You are so right! U-versue is PHENOMENAL!!! I booted Comcast after they said it would be 2 weeks before they could come out and fix my nonexistant

internet connection. I went online, ordered U-verse, and by 9am the next morning a great technician from AT&T had me set up. My services have never

    been faster!

    Send that team to my

neighborhood please! I had to call the cable company to ask how my bill slowly went up $20 over the last year and the answer they gave me was “Sorry”

and they adjusted it. Glad the wife was paying attention. I just want to be able to have my phone tell my tv to tape shows for me. The wife wants all

of it on one bill. Two birds with one stone I guess. 8)

I found the callcenter video on

there. The Adams girl looks like my last boss. Those are the cleanest cubicals I’ve ever seen. I like sales where I don’t have to see the customers

face to face. I applied on the AT&T page and hope that someone calls soon. I have 8 years of experience in callcenters and would love that

    discount.

    :-) ;-) :D ;-) :o 8) :P :-*

    agree with tech. good entry

job but not a ‘technician’ in the sense of the work so much as a installer. would like more of these for all jobs. get to work recruiter guy. :-)

Thanks for the comments, Jon and Michelle. Glad to see you enjoyed the video. This one was filmed in North Texas where, yeah, the attics

get pretty hot. Not exactly a selling point for the job but when we moved into our first house in TX (I’m from CA) we found the following words

written on the attic ceiling, “Abandon hope all ye who enter here by forceful work from wife – the heat shall kill us all. Summer 97.”

Didn’t paint over it since I discovered it while putting in a new attic floor per the

Make no mistake these jobs are not like

network techs. These are televion installation and customer service. I’ve been a tech for 15 years and I wouldn’t want this job because it is too

much customer service. If this is more customer service and less technician it would seem like a good entry level. mAybe a starter job to move into

heavier tech work or to just get in with a company.
Do you have any movies for heavier tech jogbs?

  • Michelle H

I love that this video shows a

woman doing this job. I thought that this job was more on the technical side and more about cables and hard hat work because of some discussions

I’ve seen on message boards and had elsewhere. I was looking for something more technican than this one but I bet there are lots of people that will

like that its not and won’t be afraid to go for it!
thank you Recruiter Guy for putting this here. Your site is very nice. ;-)
