Feeds Gone Wild

RecruiterGuy uses FeedBurnerAre you a Google AdSense user? Have you taken the leap and integrated Google ads into your blog or homepage or album or x? If so, rejoice dear revenue seeker – starting next week publishers in the FeedBurner Ad Network will continue to see premium CPM ads directly into the feed stream, with the added bonus of context driven ads to fill up the remainder of their inventory.

What does it mean? You’re looking to get the best of both worlds according to the Feedburner blogs: “a dedicated Google sales force that knows how and why to sell onto your content, with the added revenue that full back-fill coverage provides. And with AdSense, you’ll know that your back-filled ads are using the strongest contextual ad engine, ensuring the most relevant and profitable ads are delivered to your subscribers. And yes, ads are also sold via Google’s AdWords program.”
So… basically – “$ca-ching!$” if you play your feeds right.

Not playing this CPM game yet? It’s easy to get going if not – you only need to sign up for AdSense and set your channels up for “placement targeting.” Then just manage your campaigns that are targeted at your feed by enjoying the jedi power of the Ad Review Center.

Feedburner hints that there is much more to come from this new integration with Google saying that they’ll give you the details on AdSense for feeds, including supported formats, how to sign up, etc., etc. when they’re ready for the full launch to all publishers.

My own preference is to avoid ads on my personal blog all together – I don’t like the idea of using my ‘online hub’ (aka: public diary) as a marketing tool (at least for anything 3rd party) but if I did this would surely be something I’d investigate further.Â
I’d love to hear from anyone taking advantage of this new integration.
